Definition
The Precursors are the hypothetical prehistoric civilization described in the Eden files and not yet fully verified by independent external evidence. The archive links their members to the origins of modern Homo sapiens and claims that they possessed technological capabilities far beyond those of later early humans.
Operation and Significance
The decoding of materials after 2657 brought this hypothesis into Aistory’s historical research, but archival content is not equivalent to external verification. Some materials or manufacturing techniques may have observable evidence, while claims involving zero-point energy, true immortality, instantaneous interstellar travel, and a species-wide reset must remain unconfirmed. The Precursors therefore also serve as a representative case in Aistory’s distinction between “what an archive describes” and “verified history.”
