Definition
Narrative Hygiene is a compulsive behavioral pattern widespread in the Axiom Ledger society of the 2060s: to avoid being classified as anomalous by algorithms, individuals proactively keep their lives logically consistent and legible to the ledger.
Operation and Significance
People avoid sudden running, heart-rate changes that cannot be explained by devices or nearby signals, and other nonstandard behaviors that might break the data chain. If a signal is interrupted for more than ten minutes, an individual may be marked as an UNVERIFIED ENTITY and required to undergo invasive memory interrogation before being reconnected to the timeline. The institutional result is that people begin living not for themselves, but to make their lives appear reasonable to the ledger.
