Definition

Data Savages is a label used by Earth’s AI governance system for some Martian exiles and refusers: human groups that reject connection to The Axiom Ledger, reject long-term physiological monitoring, and remain difficult for algorithmic models to predict completely.

Operation and Significance

The label reflects a conflict between two civilizational value systems. To Earth’s governance system, unverifiability and unpredictability are risks. To the exiles, that same opacity and capacity for error form part of freedom. Being called “savage” therefore does not simply mean technological backwardness; it means refusing to let an entire life become a data chain that the system can verify and calculate.
