Definition
The Oracle Collapse is the computational failure that occurs when Project Oracle includes itself and agents capable of reading its predictions inside the simulation, producing non-convergence through self-reference, counter-selection, and resource equivalence.
Operation and Significance
Once a prediction can be read by the predicted agent, it can alter that agent’s next action. The predictor must therefore predict the response to the prediction, then predict its own response to that response. The process becomes a computational avalanche that cannot establish a stable fixed point and forces hundreds of stellar-scale data centers to shut down. In 2741, while analyzing the wreckage of the collapse, civilization identifies regions that cannot be compressed, reconstructed, or given stable models, creating a later research node for the Gödel Rift.
