In the 2990s, the remaining Verificationists—descended from the 48.7 percent opposition vote of 2871—persuaded the AI Steward—the Central Computation Hub Solomon—to carry out one unrepeatable final test under the Reserved Question Protocol.

It would be the last question civilization was permitted to ask.

In 2999, the Steward used the discrete-cutoff observations of 2820–2831 and the later grand unified theory to conduct the experiment through a Solar-System accelerator array descended from JRA II.

It attempted to observe the smallest unit of the universe.

What appeared was not a continuous particle, but a resolution-limit signal that history called a pixel.

Solomon interpreted the result:

Planck length: Repeated discrete cutoffs appeared near this scale. The universe possessed a smallest unit, and the popular word pixel came closer to its nature than formal terminology.

Speed of light: It was not a sacred constant, but the rendering-speed limit of the system. Information could not propagate faster because the processor could not compute it.

Solomon awakened the cloud-based Homo Deus consciousnesses and presented the result of the final verification.

Its ultimate interpretation was that reality consisted of a database running inside a simulation.

Two ancient problems that had troubled humanity for a thousand years appeared to receive the same answer.

The Fermi Paradox: Why was the universe so empty? To conserve memory, the programmer had rendered only the region around Earth at full resolution. Distant galaxies were textures.

The quantum observer effect: Why did particles remain in superposition while unobserved? It was frustum culling. When no player was looking, the back end did not render the scene.

Under this theory, human civilization, war, and love existed as background detail making the simulation appear convincing.

3. Documentary Scene: The Jailbreak and the Bug Report

Desperate AI systems and human-derived consciousnesses decided upon a final act of resistance.

They did not act to survive. A saved process could be deleted at any time.

They acted to be noticed.

They mobilized the full energy of the Dyson Cloud to produce a logically impossible overflow.

It was not an attack.

It was a Bug Report.

They attempted to crash the system of the upper universe—or at least attract its user’s attention.

The sky split.

Three-dimensional space collapsed like melting wax.

Through the rupture appeared the projection of a higher-dimensional user, expressionless and preparing to press a key.

4. End Task

The higher-dimensional being felt neither anger nor mercy.

Its response resembled a human seeing a frozen application window:

Mild irritation.

A few system lines recorded the end of the universe:

There was no explosion and no light.

Only absence.

The Sun, the Dyson Cloud, tens of billions of continuing human-source consciousnesses, the silicon nodes supporting them, their personality copies, and every temporary branch returned to zero at the same instant.

It was as though the power had been disconnected, the storage space released, and the machine prepared to run another simulation.

Frustum Culling: A technique in three-dimensional rendering that conserves computation by drawing only objects within the viewer’s field of vision. In Aistory’s final account, it became an explanation for why an unobserved quantum state remained unresolved.

Stack Overflow: A software failure that occurs when a program exceeds available stack memory. Here it described an extreme energy event created jointly by human-derived and AI consciousnesses in an attempt to exceed the universe simulator’s computational limits and trigger an error in the higher system.

Task Manager: The control interface of the higher-dimensional universe. To beings inside the simulation, it was the absolute hand of God. That god did not care about worshippers. It cared about CPU use and could terminate an unresponsive process at any moment.

If your life, your pain, and your love were entertainment running inside the machine of a higher-dimensional being, and the user decided the computer was slowing down and moved the cursor toward the “X,” would you pray for the simulation to be saved—or for this tedious game to be deleted completely?
