Recording, storing, displaying, training on, and reconstructing affect data are different uses and require separate permission judgments.

Whether IAGA can technically represent or reconstruct affect is separate from whether that use is authorized. The record must preserve use permissions and provenance; “can be done” must not become “is authorized.”

Some affect cannot be fully described by the current model. Keeping an unexplained remainder is valid and does not by itself imply pathology.

Residual is a first-class result. Uncertainty, incomplete representation, or unsafe translation does not automatically mean error, pathology, or missing=zero.

Version changes preserve the meaning of older records; affect that cannot be translated safely may stay in its native representation instead of being forced into another form.

The first rule of IAGA migration is preservation of original meaning. When a target topology cannot be safely reduced into ordinary IAGA, the native representation remains primary rather than being forced through translation.
